Our Team

Chris John - Director of Sports Marketing

Chris John serves as the Director of Sports Marketing. In this role, he oversees Goldmark's advisory portfolio across all sports. Chris brings over 25 years of experience in sports and approaches his work through the lens of a former 2-sport collegiate athlete to help champion budding stars. His expertise is in developing relationships with athletes and their families to craft a game plan that ensures an athlete's growth on and off the field. In addition to coordinating player development camps and coaches, Chris is also tasked with uncovering opportunities to help athletes enhance and monetize their NIL.

John Paris Jr. - Sports Psychology

John is a long time hockey coach, scout, sports psychologist, and mentor to players and teams ranging from youth hockey to the NHL. Being a published author, he brings a depth of knowledge and advice for players and coaches in certain situations both on and off the ice. John is actively working with players to provide them with guidance, advice, and ultimately ensuring that they are occupying the proper mindset for peak performance throughout the ups and downs of a season.

Jeremy Roenick - Hockey Coach

Jeremy “J.R.” Roenick is a former American NHL player. He was drafted eighth overall in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 by the Chicago Blackhawks. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and the San Jose Sharks over the course of his 20 year NHL season career. He represented TEAM USA in numerous international tournaments, including two Olympics, 98′ & 02′ collecting a Silver Medal in Salt Lake City 2002. On November 10, 2007, he became the third American-born player to score 500 Goals. On August 6, 2009, Roenick announced his retirement from the National Hockey League. Roenick finished his career having scored 513 goals with 703 assists in 1,363 games, for a total of 1,216 points.

Jeremy is famously noted as one of the most colorful personalities on and off the ice, and undeniably the most fan friendly star the NHL has ever produced. Charitable work has always been a big part of Jeremy’s life, traveling North America supporting many causes helping to raise money and awareness. Jeremy has been recognized for his talents as a sports analyst and provides Goldmark clients with elite advice for young players navigating their careers.

Gary Heenan - Hockey Coach

Gary has been a successful NCAA hockey coach for over 20 years. Currently the head coach of perennial favorite Utica College, Heenan has been named Coach of the Year numerous times. Perhaps what best describes Heenan is his knack for developing talent. He has made a name for finding players in lesser recognized leagues and making them All-Americans and Pros.

Each summer players ranging from peewee to AHL enlist Coach Heenan to further develop their game. Heenan has also developed some of the nation’s top young coaches. He has several former assistants now coaching division I programs, USHL and major junior teams, and on NHL staffs.

Steve Martinson - Hockey Coach

Steve Martinson is the current head coach and general manager of the Allen Americans (ECHL). He has been involved in hockey his entire life. A native of Minnesota, he started on the ponds in his neighborhood, played high school and college hockey in his home state before embarking on a 14 year professional career. Martinson’s playing career included stints in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota North Stars. After his playing days were over, Martinson started what has become a historic coaching career. He has won 10 championships, including four straight with the Allen Americans, in his 25 seasons as a head coach in professional hockey. He is now the winningest American born head coach in history, with over 1,000 wins. Martinson is second all-time in wins among North American professional coaches, trailing only Hall of Fame coach, Scotty Bowman. Martinson has spent his many years as a professional coach evaluating players, breaking down video, developing drills, running practices and providing feedback; all with the goal of developing players while winning games.

He has also been involved in youth hockey along the way with his children, Logan who was a USHL draft choice and Lily who is starting her collegiate career on a full scholarship at Providence College (NCAA D1).

Matt Ratajczak - Soccer Coach

Matt Ratajczak is a Brooklyn native who has lived and breathed soccer for over 20 years. He grew up playing for his club team, Metropolitan Oval Academy (one of NYC’s leading MLS NEXT academies), and his school, Packer Collegiate Institute. Matt enjoyed an incredible four years at Williams College where he led the Men’s Soccer team to two NCAA DIII Final Fours and a NESCAC Championship while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in economics. Matt was elected captain by his teammates and coaches for his Junior and Senior seasons, and garnered All-America and Scholar All-America honors. Matt realized his childhood dream of playing soccer professionally when he signed with Ungmennafélagið Fjölnir in Iceland shortly after graduating from Williams.

Matt transitioned to the business side of the sport when he started working in the player department at Major League Soccer HQ. He facilitated the creation of Major League Soccer’s player development department and has helped grow it into MLS NEXT, Major League Soccer’s youth program designed to provide the best player development experience in North America. Matt is a natural leader who approaches his work with a commitment to excellence. He gravitates to player development and brings experience from the perspective of a player, captain, coach, and manager.
